Do you dream of being the king/queen of the warehouse? That you'll manoeuvre tons of goods with grace and your colleagues will watch in awe at your mastery? Then you've come to the right place! Today, we're going to take a look at how to get that magical forklift truck (Forklift) "pilot's license". No wings or air traffic control, but all the more fun!
Choice of training provider:
The first step is to find an accredited company that offers courses for operating a lift truck. Working with forklift trucks brings with it potential risks, which is why completing accredited training is key. Quality training ensures that operators gain the necessary theoretical knowledge about the design, operation, maintenance and safety of forklift trucks, as well as the practical skills needed to operate them safely and efficiently.
Luckily for you, you don't have to look for any secret academy hidden at the end of the world. You'll find everything you need at our reliable training centre. We've been training as part of the europersonal recruitment agency for over 13 years, we're dedicated to training for HHVs but also for OHS, cargo tie-downs, farbocite testing and more. Simply register via our TRAINING CENTRE - OHS & HSE Training form and we'll get back to you. And as a benefit, you'll also get an offer of vacancies where you can use the licence straight away. You can see them today here: job vacancies - Europersonal
What will you need before the course?
- Age 18 - legal minimum
- Health report - from the district doctor
- Photo (3×3,5cm)
- Willingness to learn something
How does it actually work there?
Think of it as a kind of driving school for VZV drivers. Except instead of boring road signs, you'll learn how to gracefully lift pallets and avoid poles (which, let's face it, is sometimes an art in itself).
There are several types of forklift trucks and it is necessary to choose the most suitable one for you to begin with. Whether you're tempted by a retractor, a pallet truck or something with a telescopic arm (that almost sounds like a Transformer), the training will teach you how to do it.
Take theoretical training
The theoretical part of the course includes teaching about the legislation related to the operation of the lift truck, technical aspects of the truck, principles of work safety, the procedure for taking over and handing over the truck, basic operation and maintenance. Emphasis is placed on accident prevention and correct load handling procedures.
Show what you know in practice
After successful completion of the theoretical part, practical training under the supervision of our experienced instructor Michal follows. During the practical training, participants learn the skills necessary to operate different types of VZV, cargo handling, driving in different conditions and performing basic tasks. Prepare yourself for the fact that it may not be completely easy at first, but training makes perfect!
Pass the exams
At the end of the course, participants will take a theoretical and practical exam. Successful completion of both parts of the exam is a prerequisite for obtaining a certificate of competence to operate forklifts.
Theoretical (to prove you know what you're talking about) and practical (to show you know it in the real world). If you pass, congratulations! You've just earned your VZV licence!
As well as being able to proudly say you control a tonne of machinery, you'll also get:
Qualification: you'll have a paper to prove your skills. This will come in handy when looking for a job!
Safety: you'll learn how to operate the VZV safely, for yourself and for others. And that's priceless.
New Super Skill: Admit it, operating an ATV is pretty cool.
